Freeway Shooting, Chase Up I-680
A passenger was firing out the window of a pickup, with a witness following the vehicle and giving updates to the CHP dispatcher. (Breaking)

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A suspect fired a gun multiple times out the window of a Nissan pickup truck on a Walnut Creek road late Saturday night, according to a witness. There were no reports of injuries. After a chase from Walnut Creek to Pittsburg, both suspects in the truck were arrested. Their names have not been released.
The CHP was notified at 11:23 p.m. of the shooting near I-680 and SR-24. A white male passenger with a handgun was firing gunshots out of the vehicle, the CHP reports.
"The witness continued to give updates as the vehicle transitioned onto northbound SR-242," the CHP stated in a report. "Our CHP units got into position to intercept the vehicle on eastbound SR-4 at San Marco. Shortly thereafter, our officers spotted the vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle."

As additional units got into position to help intercept the pickup, it exited SR-4 at Loveridge Road and began traveling northbound on Loveridge Road. It then made a right turn onto North Park Boulevard and pulled into the WinCo parking lot.
The CHP stopped the pickup and took the driver into custody without incident. The passenger took off running but was caught by Pittsburg Police officers who were arriving at the scene. "The suspect physically resisted arrest and had to be forcefully taken into custody," the CHP reports. "The suspect was transported to Sutter Delta to receive medical attention and then discharged back into CHP custody.'

A search of the white pickup turned up a 9 MM handgun matching the description provided by the witness, two ammo magazines, spent shell casings and live rounds of ammo. There was also marijuana individually bagged, a scale, and approximately $2,200, the CHP reports.
Charges are pending from the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
