Watsonville's Water System Needs $100M In Upgrades

The repairs and upgrades are needed over the next decade, The Pajaronian reported.

WATSONVILLE, CA — The city's water infrastructure needs updates totaling more than $100 million, The Pajaronian reported.

Watsonville's Water System Master Plan found the $100 million in repairs and upgrades would be needed within the next decade, but the plan also looked at projects needed over the next 20 years, the paper reported. The city will need to prioritize because it's not likely all of those projects will receive funding, Public Works and Utilities Director Steve Palmisano said during the council's Jan. 21 meeting.

Proposed projects include a $22.5 million project to upgrade to chromium-6 treatment plants, a $3 million well near the city's Municipal Airport and $2 million in pipe replacements, The Pajaronian reported.
