Alcohol May Have Been Factor In Deadly Monterey Crash: CHP
Officers responded at 6:55 p.m. to the collision involving two vehicles on southbound Salinas Road.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA -- The California Highway Patrol is reporting alcohol may have been a factor in a fatal collision Thursday in unincorporated Monterey County that left one person dead and two others injured.
Zenon Sanchez Cruz, 23, of Watsonville suffered fatal injuries when his Mitsubishi Galant collided with another vehicle on Salinas Road, south of Trafton Road, according to the CHP.
Officers responded at 6:55 p.m. to the collision involving two vehicles on southbound Salinas Road.

The Mitsubishi made an unsafe turning movement, crossed a dirt median into the southbound lanes and collided with a Dodge Journey, according to the CHP.
The Dodge was struck in the front end, and the Mitsubishi was hit along the driver's side door.

A passenger in the Mitsubishi suffered major injuries in the collision, and the driver of the Dodge suffered moderate injuries. Both were taken to a hospital.
The CHP is still investigating the collision.
