WATSONVILLE, CA — An alleged drug dealer, who Watsonville police say is a known gang member and convicted felon, has been arrested after leading officers on a chase. Pedro Magaña, 31, was spotted riding a motorcycle near Bree Lane last Friday by Watsonville police who were in the area doing a compliance check on him. They attempted to stop him, but he fled, according to the Watsonville PD.

During the chase, Magaña careened down a steep hillside, which is where officers were able to catch up with him. During their investigation, police said they found a backpack filled with more than 270 grams of methamphetamine and 16 grams of cocaine that Magaña was carrying.

Magaña was charged with possession of controlled substances for sale and driving on a suspended license; the motorcycle was impounded, according to police. He was booked into county jail with a $75,000 bail. Prior to this arrest, Magaña had been out on bail for a domestic violence case that involved a firearm and drugs, police said.
