'Cache' Of Identity Theft Items Found During SCC Traffic Stop

The items ranged from credit cards and identification cards to blank checks and account login information, officials said.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA β€” A traffic stop on the outskirts of Watsonville Sunday resulted in two people being arrested on suspicion of identity theft, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office. Little information has been released, but the sheriff's office said during the investigation a "cache" of identity theft related materials were discovered.

"A search of the vehicle resulted in potentially hundreds of victims worth of identity theft materials, ranging from credit cards and identification cards to blank checks and account login information," according to the sheriff's office. The investigation is ongoing.

Rita Rodriguez and Brandon Blount were booked into county jail on suspicion of identity theft and narcotics related offenses, according to the sheriff's office.
