Deputy Fills Tank Of Woman Stranded, Unable To Afford Gas

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputy bought the woman gas after discovering the driver in a Watsonville school parking lot.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputy bought a few gallons of gas out of his pocket after discovering a driver stranded, unable to afford gas for the trip back home.

The deputy and his field training officer happened upon the woman's car while checking up on a Watsonville school. When the deputy learned the woman couldn't afford gas, he drove to a nearby gas station, filled up a red gas jug and sent her on her way.

The department shared the story on Facebook.
