Donut Shop Held Up At Gunpoint In Watsonville

The two bandits were unsuccessful opening the cash register, but did steal a customer's purse and the tip jar.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early this morning in Watsonville. Officers responded at 12:25 a.m. to Ms Donuts & Ice Cream at 301 E. Lake Ave. on a report of a robbery.

While en route, officers learned one of the suspects pulled out a gun during the robbery, police said. During the ensuing investigation, officers learned two men entered the business and demanded money from the cash register.

One removed a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at employees, who ran to the back of the business. The suspect with the gun then confronted patrons sitting inside, police said.

The suspect demanded money from a male patron while pointing the gun to his chest. When the victim said he didn’t have any, the suspect then grabbed a woman’s purse on top of a table, police said. One of the suspects attempted to open the cash register during the robbery but was unsuccessful.

The suspects did, however, steal a tip jar from the counter, according to police. The pair was last seen running away from the donut shop east on East Lake avenue, police said.
