Elderly Man Crashes In Watsonville, Urgent Care Building Damaged

WATSONVILLE, CA β€” A man in his 80s lost control of his truck and plowed into a parked car at an urgent care building in Watsonville Wednesday afternoon, prompting a temporary closure of the area, police reported.

The non-injury crash at Airport and Freedom boulevards caused about $20,000 worth of structural damage to the building, according to Watsonville Fire Department estimates.

No one was inside the Lexus, and there were no injuries reported inside the building. Code enforcement was called to the scene to assess the building's structural damage.

The area was temporarily shut down at about 2:30 p.m. but has since been reopened, according to Watsonville police.

The driver of the truck was not under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol; officers are still determining what caused him to lose control, police said.
