Gilroy Homicide Suspect Found & Arrested: Police
Izaak Ruben Bermea, accused of killing his girlfriend Wednesday, was nabbed in Merced, police said.

GILROY, CA β A man accused of killing his girlfriend earlier this week in Gilroy was arrested Wednesday in Merced, the Gilroy Police Department announced.
Izaak Ruben Bermea, 49, was arrested on suspicion of homicide, police said.
Police, responding to a report of a woman screaming for help on the 7700 block of Murray Avenue in Gilroy at about 6 a.m. Monday, found a severely beaten adult female inside a residence when they arrived. The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries, the agency said.

The suspect allegedly had already fled the scene in the victim's vehicle by the time police arrived.
Gilroy police detectives, with the help of outside agencies, launched a search for Bermea that led to a Merced residence. Bermea was subsequently arrested without incident at approximately 5 p.m. and transported back to Gilroy.

The victim's vehicle also was located and brought back to Gilroy. After his arrest, Bermea was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail, police said.
