Man Suspected Of Trying To Rob Watsonville Pizzeria Arrested

WATSONVILLE, CA — A man suspected of trying to rob a popular Watsonville pizzeria earlier this month was arrested on Feb. 7, police officials said. Joaquin Becerril allegedly went into Corralitos Pizza located at 1061 S Green Valley Rd. and showed employees a handgun. He walked to the register he did not take any cash or property, according to police. Becerril left before officers arrived.

In January, police said a man, later identified as Becerril, who was armed with a handgun, allegedly robbed employees at Baskin Robbins.

Police said video surveillance footage from the pizzeria robbery attempt helped them to identify Becerril, who was staying at a nearby Motel 6, as the suspect. Officers said they turned up evidence linking him to the attempted robbery during a search of his motel room. Becerril was arrested on suspicion of robbery while at a Santa Cruz park five days later.
