Police Donate New Bike To Boy, Gesture Brings Mom To Tears

WATSONVILLE, CA β A young boy named Rudy is enjoying his dream bike thanks to several kind-hearted Watsonville police officers. As his mother watched, the officers presented the new ride to the 11-year-old and the touching gesture brought both to tears. The sweet moment was captured on video and residents following on social media have fallen in love.
Police said the opportunity to help came about when Rudy ran into three officers as he was was headed to try to haggle with an online seller about a bicycle listed for sale. The trio of cops decided they had a better idea and took the young boy to Watsonville Cyclery instead.
The bike shop sold the new BMX bicycle to Officers Javier Ayala, Fernando LΓ³pez and Paco Bribiesca for $500 and they gave it, a helmet and a lock to Rudy. In the video, Rudy says thank you to the officers.

The video has gotten more than 559 reactions on Facebook, 61 comments and it has been shared more than 100 times since it was posted on the police departmentβs Facebook page on July 14.
