WATSONVILLE, CA — A male suspect wanted on a parole violation barricaded himself inside a Watsonville residence Tuesday and a police standoff began. The Watsonville Police Department issued an alert late Tuesday afternoon asking the public to avoid the 200 block of Center Street. "Police activity underway," the alert—which was issued just before 5 p.m.—stated. Negotiators were on scene working to coax the suspect out, according to WPD communications specialist Michelle Pulido, and by 5:45 p.m. the suspect was taken into custody. There were no immediate reports of injuries. Check back for updates.
