Man On Stolen Bike Leads Short Pursuit In Watsonville: Sheriff

A deputy tried to pull the man over, but he kept driving, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said.

WATSONVILLE, CA β€” A man was arrested Saturday after a Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputy caught him driving a stolen bike with a swapped license plate, the sheriff's office said. Alejandro U. Villarreal, 33, did not pull over at first and initiated a pursuit, the sheriff's office said.

Villarreal saw the deputy had continued to follow him and pulled over, police said.

Villarreal was arrested on suspicion of charges related to evading a peace officer, possessing stolen property, destroying or concealing evidence, drug possession, violating probation and driving on a suspended license, jail records show.
