Salinas Inmate Dead In Suspected Homicide
Armando Wehr was an inmate at the men's Salinas Valley State Prison in unincorporated Monterey County near Soledad.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA -- A 33-year-old inmate at Salinas Valley State Prison was found dead in a suspected homicide Monday, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials said today.
Armando Wehr was an inmate at the men's Salinas Valley State Prison in unincorporated Monterey County near Soledad.
Officers at the prison found Wehr unresponsive with multiple wounds in a maximum-security yard just after 9 p.m., according to correctional officials. He was pronounced dead at 9:35 p.m. despite life-saving efforts.

Correctional officials said no suspect has been identified at this time. They did not release further information about the nature of Wehr's injuries.
Wehr was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole from Contra Costa County for second-degree murder and an additional 25 years for intentional discharge of a firearm.

He was arrested on Sept. 14, 2007, for shooting and killing Bay Point resident Walter McDuffie outside Club Q, a bar in Antioch.
