WATSONVILLE, CA — Another arrest has been made in a burglary case involving a Watsonville jewelry store, police announced Thursday.

Silvano Martinez, 38, a transient, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after Watsonville officers spotted him on W. Lake Avenue at Rodriguez Street, the WPD reported.

Martinez is the second arrest following the Sept. 26 early morning burglary at Fatima's Fine Jewelry on Main Street. Jorge Garcia, 29, also a Watsonville transient, was arrested less than 24 hours after the break-in. Police identified him from surveillance footage of the burglary, according to the WPD.

Martinez and Garcia made their way into the jewelry store about five minutes after a masked burglar used a large rock to break the back door of the business and steal merchandise, police said. Video surveillance shows the man wearing heavy clothing, gloves and a mask.

Police still have no leads on the masked burglar. If you have any information regarding the case, call Detective Tyler Wildey at (831) 768-3356.
