Darian Jackson was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday at his home on Del Monte Avenue in Marina.

MONTEREY, CA -- A 24-year-old Marina man was jailed Thursday on suspicion of burglary and grand theft of a firearm the same day he allegedly fled a gun store with a handgun he was being shown, Monterey police said.

Darian Jackson was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday at his home on Del Monte Avenue in Marina, a small community just northeast of Monterey.

Earlier that day, at about 10:30 a.m., police were called to the Hunter's Supply store on North Fremont Street in Monterey. Store employees told police a man came in and asked to be shown a handgun. Upon being given
the handgun to inspect, the man - later identified as Jackson - ran out of the store. A store employee fired one shot in response; no one was struck, police said.
