Watsonville Collects Donations For Agricultural Workers

Baby essentials and face masks are especially needed. Donations can be dropped off Wednesday and Thursday.

WATSONVILLE, CA — The City of Watsonville continues to collect donations for agricultural workers as part of its Farmworker Relief Drive.

Recipients are particularly in need of adult face coverings, cleaning supplies diapers, baby formula and baby wipes, the city said. Food items should not be donated.

Donations can be dropped off Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fire Station 1 (115 Second St.) and Fire Station 2 (370 Airport Blvd.).

"We know during this health crisis that our farmworker families have continued to show up to work every day to make sure that there's food on all of our tables and that they have a significant need for some items," said City Manager Matt Huffaker.

The city is partnering with local organizations to distribute the items, he said.

"We know that Watsonville has a big heart and now we just encourage everyone to come out and be a part of this effort," Huffaker said.
