Dignity Health awards over $1.3M Community Health Grants across region (folsomtimes.com) — Dignity Health has awarded more than $1.3 million in community health grants, including $98,000 to Mercy Coalition of West Sacramento to expand its Recovery Cafe at Mosaic Village. That funding will extend Saturday hours, add meals, deepen case management, and grow classes at the School for Recovery for residents facing homelessness, trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges. Additional grants support health and mental health programs across Sacramento and Yolo counties.
   

2. Pride parade, West Sacramento plant reopens: Your weekend news roundup (sacbee.com) — A major bottling plant in West Sacramento has restarted under new ownership, bringing back 94 jobs—most to former workers—and planning to hire 30 more, a meaningful boost for local families. The weekend roundup also notes Sacramento Pride festivities, state workers receiving Medals of Valor, and several broader regional and state stories, but the plant’s reopening is the key development for West Sacramento residents.
   

3. Game #72: Pirates at Athletics Game Thread (athleticsnation.com) — The Oakland A’s are back in West Sacramento tonight, opening a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Sutter Health Ballpark after a rough road stretch in Las Vegas. Right-hander J.T. Ginn gets the start as the team looks to stabilize its shaky pitching staff, with lineup tweaks aimed at shoring up defense and run prevention. 4. Seven CHP Officers Earn Governor's State Employee Medal of Valor for Extraordinary Acts of Heroism (ca.gov) — Seven California Highway Patrol officers were honored Monday at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento with the Governor’s State Employee Medal of Valor, the state’s highest award for public service heroism. Their actions ranged from stopping wrong-way drivers and DUI threats to saving shooting victims and preventing a courthouse bombing. The ceremony highlighted how statewide public safety decisions and training still connect back to West Sacramento’s academy campus.
