• Here's How You Can See 250,000 Bats Fly Out From Under the Yolo Causeway This Month (activenorcal.com) — If you’ve driven I‑80 between West Sacramento and Davis, you’ve unknowingly passed a massive bat colony under the Yolo Causeway that puts on a nightly show. Through the end of September, the Yolo Basin Foundation is leading educational tours and caravan trips into the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area so locals can safely watch roughly 250,000 Mexican free‑tailed bats stream out at sunset and learn why they’re vital to farms and mosquitoes alike. 
• Yolo DA Prosecutor Helps Federal Government Seek 30 Years in West Sacramento Drug Case (davisvanguard.org) — A 45-year-old West Sacramento man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty in a large-scale drug trafficking case investigated locally by West Sacramento police, Yolo County agencies, and the FBI. A Yolo County prosecutor working as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney helped seek a longer 30-year term, but the judge imposed a lower sentence after weighing disputes over federal career-offender rules and Kenney’s background.
