Neighbors had raised safety and communication concerns about the former facility.

• California confirms invasive golden mussel farther north, with Lake Tahoe now at risk (thecooldown.com) — Invasive golden mussels have now been confirmed near the Port of West Sacramento, marking their northernmost spread in California and raising concerns for local waterways and infrastructure. State and Tahoe-area officials are ramping up prevention efforts, inspections, and public reporting campaigns to keep the species from reaching Lake Tahoe and driving up costs for water systems, residents, and businesses.

• Six New CHP Canine Teams Ready to Protect California (westsacramentonewsledger.com) — West Sacramento hosted the CHP’s latest canine academy graduation, where six newly trained dog-and-handler teams completed hundreds of hours of specialized work before deploying statewide. The class includes the agency’s first Springer Spaniel team and a mix of narcotics and explosives detection units. These teams will now help remove drugs, weapons, and explosives from communities across California.
