• Yolo County reports first human West Nile virus case of 2026 (cbsnews.com) — A Woodland resident has been hospitalized with West Nile virus, the first confirmed human case in Yolo County this year. Health officials urge residents to use insect repellent, avoid mosquito bites during peak hours, and note that free repellent is available locally through county wellness vending machines, including one in Woodland. 
• LA Times: Trump administration targeted California and other blue states for clean energy cuts (senate.gov) — Federal court filings say the Trump administration cut billions in clean energy grants mainly to blue states, and one affected recipient was West Biofuels in Woodland. The case could determine whether funding for California projects, including Woodland's, is restored, with a final ruling expected in November.
