“In discussing the impact of the Affordable Care Act, (Douglas) Elmendorf ( director of the Congressional Budget Office )said that as we look forward to the future state of the budget, we can expect that increased spending on social security, Medicare and Medicaid will account for approximately 85 percent of the projected increase in annual spending over the coming decade.
The Affordable Care Act, Elmendorf said, is all about value-based tradeoffs. While the budget will be largely negatively impacted by this policy – the Affordable Care Act is estimated to be responsible for 60 percent of growth in federal spending over the next 10 years – 26 million more people will be insured.” Cornell University:
