Come to BirdFest!

A terrific opportunity to learn about local birds and animals, in a beautiful and family-friendly outdoor space.

The San Fernando Valley Audubon Society, along with the Western National Parks Association, is putting on its first Los Angeles BirdFest on Saturday, October 18, at the King Gillette ranch in Calabasas. The ranch itself is a well-kept secret, a terrific place to visit, walk and check out birds. People are starting to take notice of birdwatching as a pastime, but most don’t know how to put their toe in the water. BirdFest provides an opportunity to do just that, with demonstrations, talks, discussions, walks -- in a convenient setting with food, restrooms, plenty of free parking.

The whole event is free, kid-friendly, educational and fun. We start at 9:30 in the morning and go ‘til 4:00 PM. Come check it out, you’ll be glad you did!

Here’s a link to the Gillette Ranch website, with a description and a map. Hope to see you on the 18th! http://www.lamountains.com/parks.asp?parkid=670
