Conejo Wholesale Auto & RV Sends Kids Camping with New Gear

Conejo Wholesale Auto & RV makes substantial donation for kids to go camping.

Conejo Wholesale Auto & RV recently answered the call for camping gear for kids by donating $2,000 in an effort to introduce 120 at-risk local youth to the great outdoors. “We are honored to help these kids get out and experience nature,” said Kirk Spykerman, General Manager of Conejo Wholesale Auto & RV.

The camping trip for underprivileged kids was spearheaded by the Thousand Oaks Police Department and Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD), which together work to discourage kids from joining gangs and using drugs. During the camping trip, first- to sixth-graders were able explore the Conejo Valley’s majestic open spaces and trails with deputies and CRPD staff.

“As a recreational vehicle dealer and a father, I realize the value of spending a weekend camping with kids and the memories that a simple night around a campfire makes. We believe that the positive impressions that are made on these young people will be with them for the rest of their lives, and may help to keep them out of trouble,” said Spykerman. “We look forward to partnering with these organizations again in the future and giving local youth the opportunity to discover the wonders of nature through camping.”
