Gas Prices Slide: Find the Cheapest Stations Around

Local gas prices dropped for the 17th straight day. Patch has your guide to the cheapest gas stations around town.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 17th consecutive day and the 18th time in 19 days, decreasing 1.7 cents to $3.813.

The average price has dropped 20.3 cents over the past 19 days, including 1.5 cents on both Tuesday and Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 19.1 cents during a nine-day streak of increases that immediately preceded the current run of dropping prices.

The average price is 9.7 cents less than one week ago, 2.3 cents lower than one month ago and 34.7 cents below what it was one year ago.

The decreasing prices are the result of improved supply, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
