Health Department Warns of Unhealthful Air Quality in LA

The County Department of Public Health is warning people to stay indoors today if they suffer from heart or respiratory problems.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health urged people suffering from heart or respiratory ailments to minimize outdoor activities due to unhealthy air quality expected today across much of the region.

Air quality is projected to be unhealthy in the Santa Clarita Valley and the west and east San Fernando Valley, and unhealthful for sensitive groups in the San Gabriel and Antelope valleys and in the San Gabriel Mountains, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Dr. Jeffrey Gunzenhauser, Los Angeles County’s interim health officer, advised people living or working in those areas to minimize outdoor activities if they have heart disease, asthma or other respiratory diseases.
