San Fernando Valley Memorial Day Observance at Pioneer Cemetery

An inspiring, heartfelt tribute honoring our past and present veterans.

The San Fernando Valley Historical Society will host a free Memorial Day Observance from 11:00 a.m. to Noon on Monday, May 25, 2015 at the historic San Fernando Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in Sylmar.

This year’s program commemorates the final year of our nation’s sesquicentennial observance of the epic war between North and South. It will include songs and vignettes from “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory-Reflections on the Civil War” with President Abraham Lincoln, soldiers, civilians and other spirits of the era performed by Living Literature Theatricals featuring David Aaron, JC Henning, Amanda McManus, David Pinion, and Marbry Steward of the Eclectic Company Theatre.

There will be historical displays about some of the cemetery’s buried, including five Civil War veterans and prominent local citizens. For more information or to assist with the event, contact 818-970-1286.
