Vehicle Slams into Tree in Woodland Hills, Killing Passenger

A vehicle slammed into a tree on a street in Woodland Hills today, killing the passenger and critically injuring the driver, police said.
The accident happened in the 5300 block of Don Tio Drive around 2:30 a.m., an officer in the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division said.

A man in his 20s died at the scene, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter. Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of his relatives. The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
