Yuba City man ditches loaded gun before surrendering to police (actionnewsnow.com) — Police say a 33-year-old Yuba City resident led officers on a brief bicycle chase Friday before allegedly tossing a loaded handgun near Orange Street and surrendering. A police K-9 reportedly found the gun between two sheds, and the man was booked into Sutter County Jail on firearm-related charges, resisting officers, and an outstanding felony warrant.
   

2. Balwinder Kaur Fatally Struck Near Highway 20 in Yuba City (accidentinjurynews.com) — A 69-year-old Yuba City woman died after being hit by an SUV Monday night on Colusa Frontage Road near Highway 20, and police are still investigating. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. Authorities say the victim, identified as Balwinder Kaur, was taken to a hospital where she later died.
   

3. Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau Awards $90,000 in Scholarships to Local Youth (yubanet.com) — Local students from eight area high schools, including those around Yuba City, have been awarded $90,000 in scholarships from the Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau, plus an additional $2,100 from Young Farmers & Ranchers. Awards range from $500 to a standout $20,000 memorial scholarship, supporting majors from agriculture to engineering and vocational training, all aimed at strengthening the region’s farming future.
