• Mountain lion kills two pet dogs in Yucaipa backyard (abc7.com) — A Yucaipa family’s two large dogs were killed in a rare daytime mountain lion attack caught on backyard surveillance video, prompting neighbors to be more cautious outdoors. Wildlife officials say mountain lions are common in the area but daytime attacks on pets are unusual, and the owner now plans a fortified enclosure before adopting new animals. 
• Siblings gain a new world of sound (recordgazette.net) — Two Yucaipa students born deaf are gaining a richer world of sound thanks to new Osia hearing implants, while thriving at Mesa View Middle School and Yucaipa High School. With strong support from the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District and signing aides, they’re excelling in class, sports, and social life as they prepare for a second surgery in June.
