The state is seeing an uptick in the number of cases and hospitalizations, Gov. Jared Polis said.

Since Thursday, 1,475 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Colorado, according to public health data. As of Saturday, 36,591 people had been infected with the coronavirus in the state among 389,099 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 5,885 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 1,586.

While Colorado hospitals have not yet faced capacity issues, the state has seen a rise in the number of coronavirus cases and hospitalizations over the past two weeks, Gov. Jared Polis announced in a news conference Thursday.

"What we need are adjustments on how we're living," the governor said. "We need to be responsible, wear masks more, avoid gatherings more."
