Colorado Coronavirus Update: 2,425 New Cases Reported

Over the past week, 2,425 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Colorado, according to public health data. The state has seen an uptick in cases over the past two weeks, which is partly due to college students returning to campuses, Gov. Jared Polis said in a news conference Tuesday.

"The worry is that the college transmission leads to community transmission," Polis said.

As of Tuesday, 62,099 people have been infected with the coronavirus in our state among 791,439 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 7,262 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 1,905.

Compared to other states, Colorado has the 11th lowest COVID-19 rate in the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our state has 1,083 cases per 100,000 people.
