Colorado Coronavirus Update: 3,300 New Cases Reported

Over the past week, 3,300 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Colorado, according to public health data. Over the past few weeks, the state has seen a spike in cases, which is not just linked to college students, Gov. Jared Polis said in a news conference Tuesday.

"This is a warning sign for us, just as we had a warning sign in July, and we were able to correct course," Polis said. "We need to do a bit better."

As of Tuesday, 65,399 people have been infected with the coronavirus in our state among 834,277 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 7,373 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 1,914.

Compared to other states, Colorado has the 11th lowest COVID-19 rate in the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our state has 1,148 cases per 100,000 people.
