Colorado Coronavirus Update: More Than 9,700 New Cases Reported

The state has seen a surge of coronavirus cases over the past week, according to the latest public health data.

Over the past week, 9,787 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Colorado, according to public health data.

As of Sunday, 95,089 people had been infected with the coronavirus in the state among 1,149,629 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 8,622 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 2,076.

Around 35 percent of the state's critical care ventilators were in use as of Sunday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

New COVID-19 exposure notification technology launched Sunday in Colorado. A notice was sent statewide to Android and Apple phones with instructions about how to opt into the system, officials said.

Adams and Logan counties have shifted to 'Safer Level 3: High Risk' on the state's COVID-19 Dial, and more than a dozen counties in the state are at risk of increased restrictions amid the recent spike. Denver, Jefferson, Arapahoe and Douglas counties could see a shift in the state's COVID-19 Dial if their numbers don't drop soon:
