Colorado Democratic Party Preliminary Delegate Results

The Colorado Democratic Party has posted its latest estimate of how many delegates each candidate would receive in the National Democratic Convention.

"We will be updating as numbers change," a public update from the party read. "Please note the posts here show unofficial results until the Colorado Secretary of State confirms the final vote totals."

Candidates Michael Bennet, Pete Buttigieg, John Delaney and Amy Klobuchar have submitted their withdrawal paperwork to the Colorado Secretary of State’s office, and therefore will not be counted in the vote allocation. Elizabeth Warren has also dropped out of the race.

Colorado Democratic Primary Results: Sanders Is Projected Winner

A total of 67 delegates are at stake in the Super Tuesday vote; however, the popular vote will only determine how 23 delegates are allocated. The rest will be determined by the results of the state's congressional districts.

In a 2016 referendum, voters in Colorado decided to change the caucus system to a primary system. Those who pushed for the change were hoping it would result in a higher voter turnout. Caucuses will still be held in Colorado for precincts, but they won't determine the presidential race.

“We have clearly seen the difference a primary makes in terms of more voters participating in the decision — and when more people vote, democracy wins," Colorado Democratic Party Chair Morgan Carroll said in a statement.
