Fleeing Inmate Shot, Wounded At Logan County Courthouse
A Department of Corrections Officer shot a man appearing in court for a hearing in Sterling Wednesday.

STIRLING, CO -- An inmate attempting to escape at the Logan County Courthouse was shot and injured Wednesday by a Colorado Department of Corrections officer.
The male inmate was from the Sterling Correctional Center and was appearing at the courthouse for a hearing. At around 2:25 p.m., the inmate tried to flee and the officer fired and struck him. The wounded man was taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown Wednesday night, the CDOC said in a statement.
There were no injuries to any officers or staff at the courthouse, the sheriff's office said, but they did close the courthouse for the day.

Logan County Sheriff Brett Powell said none of his deputies were involved.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation will investigate the incident. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.
