Former Fremont County Detective Charged In Connection With Murder Evidence
Lt. Robert Dodd retired in April. The charges are in connection with evidence in the murder of Candace Hiltz.

Former Fremont County Sheriff's Office Detective Lieutenant Robert Dodd is facing misdemeanor and petty offense charges, the 11th Judicial District Attorney's Office announced. The charges stem from the discovery that Dodd had evidence from a murder case that he kept in a storage unit.
The Canon City Daily Record reports that they received an email from District Attorney Molly Chilson stating that she had filed a criminal complaint against Dodd.

The evidence - a bloody rope, an axe. and boxes of paperwork - had been found in a storage unit Dodd had owned, according to the paper. It was discovered when someone bought the unit after Dodd had failed to make payments.
The evidence was from the 2006 murder of 17-year-old Candace Hiltz who had been shot multiple times.
