Fort Carson Shooting: One Person Injured; Not Active Shooter Situation

One person was shot Thursday afternoon at Fort Carson, officials say. It happened near Bad Toelz Road in the center of the installation. The person is said to be in stable condition.

Officials say this is not an active shooter situation.

However, they are having personnel shelter in place and the gates to the fort have been closed to all traffic while the investigation continues. (For more information on this and other local stories, subscribe to your local Patch for breaking news alerts.)

The fort has not disclosed whether the wounded person is a soldier or civilian.
