Fort Collins: 3 Dead and 1 Wounded In Shooting Near Colo. State U. UPDATE

FORT COLLINS, CO — UPDATE An early morning shooting left three dead, including a Colorado State University student, a few blocks from campus, Fort Collins police said. Officers responded around 2 a.m. to reports of gunshots from a multi-unit building in the 700 block of City Park Avenue, according to a police statement. When they arrived, officers discovered four people with gunshot wounds, one of whom was believed to be the shooter. The other three people were not affiliated with CSU.

Police believe the suspect was known to at least one of the victims, they said.

The Coloradan identified the student as female and reported that her family has been notified by CSU.

Officers marked a sidewalk area next to bicycle racks with forensic markers. A Twitter account posted a photo of two persons lying on a sidewalk near bicycles with a handgun nearby and what appeared to be a pool of blood. The post was removed by Thursday afternoon.

Police spokesman Matt Johnson said Fort Collins police are not looking for any suspects and say there’s no threat to the community.

Campus police alerted students about the shooting and warned them to stay inside until around 4 a.m.
