Gov. Polis Tests Positive For Coronavirus

COLORADO — Gov. Jared Polis has tested positive for the coronavirus, his office announced Saturday night.

Polis and Colorado's First Gentleman Marion Reis are "both asymptomatic, feeling well, and will continue to isolate in their home," the governor's office said in a news release.

“Marlon and I are feeling well so far, and are in good spirits," Polis said in a statement.

"No person or family is immune to this virus. I urge every Coloradan to practice caution, limit public interactions, wear a mask in public, stay six feet from others, and wash your hands regularly,” the governor said.

The governor will continue to be closely monitored, his office said.

"Gov. Polis will continue to fulfill his duties and responsibilities and continue to work remotely," the news release read.

Between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon, 3,891 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Colorado, according to public health data. If coronavirus rates continue at rates seen over the past few weeks, intensive care unit bed capacity in the state will be exceeded in January, public health officials said.
