Amber Alert: Stepfather IDed in Grand Junction Tween Case

GRAND JUNCTION, CO -- UPDATE: Raeanna Rosencrans, 12, was located safe in a Rifle Walmart Thursday night. Her stepfather Jody Haskin, 47, who was sought by police for allegedly abdunctin her, reportedly shot himself around 3:30 a.m. Friday night, as police were closing in.

Police are attempting to locate Jody Haskin, 47, of Grand Junction in connection with the disappearance of Raeanna Rosencrans, 12, who was seen around 3 p.m. getting into a green "boxy" sedan at D 1/2 Road and Larry’s Meadow in Grand Junction. The driver of the car reportedly called her by name.

Haskin, a registered sex offender, is Rosencran's step father, however "he has no parental rights to Raeanna," police said. He is described as a white male, approximately 6′, 215 lbs, balding, with brown eyes and glasses. Witness statements indicate that Raeanna entered the vehicle willingly, police said.

Haskin currently has a warrant for his arrest for sex assault on a child from the Grand Junction Police. Police did not identify the child involved.

The green sedan described by witnesses was recovered in Rifle by police. Police said they are no longer looking for that vehicle.

"There is no doubt that a case like this is incredibly alarming and frightening to everyone involved, as well as the community affected by the incident," a statement by police said. "We are committed to following up on every lead in our efforts to bring Raeanna safely home. Investigation thus far indicates this is not a case of stranger abduction. As with any complex and ongoing case like this one, there will be details that we can’t share, as it’s imperative to protect the integrity of the investigation."

Raeanna is described as 5'1" tall at 135 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing black jeans and a black shirt with white designs, Adidas, and was carrying a black and white backpack.
