These Are The Top-10 Places To Retire In Colorado: Study

Study ranked Colorado towns by taxes, number of doctor offices, recreation amenities and the number of seniors.

ACROSS COLORADO, -- Looking for a spot in Colorado to retire? A new study ranks the state's top locations, based on tax rates, the number of doctors' offices and opportunities for recreation and social life.

The study, by financial planning website SmartAsset, looked at state and local income and sales taxes, according to a description of the methodology used. The study calculated "effective rates based on a typical retiree, earning $35,000 annually (from retirement savings, social security or part-time employment), and spending their disposable income on taxable goods."

The study then located doctors offices, recreation centers and retirement centers per thousand residents in each area, using the following sources: US Census Bureau 2015 County Business Patterns (CBP) and ZIP Code Business Patterns (ZBP), Avalara, US Census Bureau 2016 American Community Survey and government websites.
