How Many People Have Already Voted In Colorado?

On the eve of Election Day, Coloradans had already returned ballots at 95.8 percent of the total voter turnout for the 2016 election.

More than 2.7 million Coloradans returned their ballots ahead of the general election on Tuesday, the Colorado Secretary of State's office confirmed.

The office has been sending daily updates to let voters know how many ballots have been returned from each party. As of Monday night, 2,740,104 ballots had been returned:

  • Total vote as percentage of 2016 total turnout: 95.8 percent
  • Democrats: 900,046
  • Republicans: 776,135
  • Unaffiliated: 1,026,224
  • Minor: 37,699

Only 56,247 Colorado ballots were returned in-person at voting centers — the rest were returned via drop box or mail, according to the U.S. Elections Project website.

Coloradans have been "incredibly engaged" ahead of the general election, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said.

All ballots must be received by 7 p.m. Tuesday, and postmarks will not count.
