ACROSS COLORADO -- After a Christmas season of historically low snowpack in Colorado's ski country, snow finally began to fall Wednesday night in the northern and central mountain areas. Snowfall will continue overnight, the National Weather Service said. Adding gusts of 25-45 mph winds, CDOT announced that mountain roads would have "zero visibility at times."
The NWS predicted three-to-six inches of snow overnight in the high country, with up to eight inches of accumulation in the western-facing mountains in northern Colorado. the highest amounts of snowfall would be at altitudes about 7,000 feet, NWS said.
In the foothills and Front Range, NWS predicted cold and rain or snow and gusts of wind with "little or no accumulation" and temperatures dropping to between 18-25 degrees overnight.
