Logan County Wildfire: Local Man Charged With Arson
The fire burned more than 32,000 acres last month.

A man who was allegedly welding on a metal trough in a dry cornfield on his property last month is now under arrest, charged with arson for starting the wildfire than burned more than 32,ooo acres. The Logan County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Patrick Svoboda on Tuesday.

Svoboda is charged with arson and reckless endangerment.

The fire, carried by high winds over dry conditions, destroyed three homes, several other buildings, and vehicles. Hundreds of cattle died as well. The fire also destroyed farmland, which can take years to recover.
It took two days to bring the fire under control.

A firefighter who suffered minor injuries was the only one injured in the incident.
