Monument Pot Raids As DEA Seizes Marijuana From Near School

Several plants from four to seven feet high were seized in the raid.

DEA Agents carried out a raid Friday in Monument's pricey King's Deer neighborhood, seizing marijuana plants from home just down the block from Prairie Winds Elementary School. It was one of several raids carried out in Monument on Friday.

The raid at 19150 Breton Place followed reports of marijuana use in the house and suspicious activity including the installation of a second electrical box at the home.

The DEA's office said the investigation was into drug trafficking by an out of state organization.

The Colorado Spring Gazette, which first reported the raid. quoted neighbors saying they were grateful for the raid because they were beginning to worry that their concerns were being ignored.

Officials have not yet disclosed whether there have been any arrests.
