Natural Grocers Posts $1.2 Million Earnings

LAKEWOOD, CO — Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage Inc. reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings Thursday of $1.2 million.

On a per-share basis, the Lakewood, Colorado-based company said it had net income of 6 cents.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 5 cents per share.

The retailer of natural and organic groceries and dietary supplements posted revenue of $198.5 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $193.6 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $6.9 million, or 31 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $769 million.

Natural Grocers expects full-year earnings to be 21 cents to 31 cents per share.

Natural Grocers shares have decreased 55 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $5.30, a decrease of 55 percent in the last 12 months.
