Tornado Warning Issued For Elbert County
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was found several miles east of Elbert, the National Weather Service warned.
ELBERT COUNTY, CO — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Elbert County. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was discovered 4 miles east of Elbert, or 33 miles northeast of Colorado Springs, moving east at 25 mph.
"Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter," NWS said in an alert. "Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
west central Elbert County, which includes Fondis, NWS said.

"Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building," NWS stated. "Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris."
The warning remains in effect until 4 p.m.
