Woman, Man Exchange Gunfire Inside Broomfield Walmart: Police

BROOMFIELD, CO — Two people are in custody after police officers were called to an 'active shooter situation' at a Broomfield Walmart Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. Police do not believe the shooting was random. No one was injured, the Broomfield Police Department said.

Officers were called to the intersection of West 120th Avenue and Vrain Street around 1:30 after a man and woman exchanged gunfire in the Walmart, police said. The woman was taken into custody, but the man remained at large for several hours before his arrest.

The ages and names of the man and woman were not released.

Stores in the area were on lockdown and people were asked to avoid the area while the police officers conducted an investigation.

Broomfield police announced that the "situation is under control" around 2:40 p.m., but people were still asked to avoid the area for several hours while the investigation was underway.
