What are the three biggest advantages Arvada has today?

  1. Arvada's growth has brought in younger home buyers and younger families, which further adds to our already vibrant and friendly residents.
  2. With our beautiful parks and excellent location, Arvada was recently named a top place to live in Colorado, which is a great lure for new business and smart, urban growth.
  3. We have the opportunity to manage our homeless population before it grows out of control, which is a rare opportunity that many other cities never had/have.

What are Arvada’s three biggest challenges?

  1. Finding the correct balance of smart growth that is fair for our city and puts Arvada - not developers or private interests - first.
  2. Creating a City Council that operates with more transparency and has greater voter inclusion.
  3. Repairing our roads and managing traffic in response to the growth that Arvada has experienced.

What’s the best way for Arvada to manage growth? The best way to manage Arvada's growth is by establishing and holding true to a city vision that respects the wants and needs of our residents, and by passing better, fairer deals for our city (unlike the now infamous $30 land deal).
What is your opinion on:
The proposed $8.3 million new convention center?
My opinion on the proposed $8.3 million convention center is that it is not needed at this time and we have much more pressing issues to fund. Arvada residents want our streets repaired first and they want their voices heard -- they are not asking for this convention center at this time.
Are there areas where Arvada could be providing better service to residents? How? Absolutely. The city needs to learn how to operate with greater transparency and voter inclusion. The best way to improve upon this is to elect new Council members like myself who have pledged to serve 'by, for, and of' the citizens.
What other issues do you feel will be important for the next Council to address? How should they be addressed? Other issues that I feel will be important for the next Council to address will be how to create more oversight on the application of urban renewal law and AURA, and how can Arvada transition to be a leader in clean energy. If I am elected I am excited to tackle these issues and fight for the best possible future for our city.
