ARVADA, CO — Donations are needed to help those who are homeless in Arvada, the city said. Many donation bins remain empty.

The City of Arvada is participating in the Comprehensive Homeless Count, a survey by the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative. The donations will be used as "incentives" for people who participate in the survey, organizers said.

The Everyone Counts 'Point in Time' annual survey will offer a "snapshot" of homelessness Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, organizers said. The initiative is a collaboration between seven counties in metro Denver.

The City of Arvada is also seeking volunteers to assist with the survey, which will help determine the number of homeless people in the community.

Each survey volunteer is required to attend a two-hour training session. View the training schedule here.

"We are recruiting volunteers to work alongside service providers to conduct interviews with homeless individuals and families in emergency shelters, human service organizations, parks, riverbeds, and other places where homeless people congregate," the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative said in a public notice.
