Arvada Mom Pleads Guilty To DUI That Killed Her 2 Kids
Jenny Figaszewski, 46, was high on meth when she crashed her car on I-70, killing two of her children, on a trip from California.

EAGLE COUNTY, CO – An Arvada woman pleaded guilty to the DUI crash that killed two of her children on I-70 in July of 2016. Jenny L. Figaszewski, 46, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to vehicular homicide and child abuse resulting in death, the 5th District Judicial District Attorney's Office said.
Figaszewski was driving on I-70 eastbound the afternoon of July 11, 2016 when her BMW sedan drifted onto the left median, a statement from the DA's office said. The vehicle flipped two complete times, injuring her and killing two of her four children (ages 14 and 9) who were riding in the car. Two surviving children were neither wearing seatbelts nor strapped into carseats, the DA said.
Figaszewski had taken methamphetamines in California just before beginning the fatal trip, the DA's statement said.

“This is a horrible tragedy. There is nothing worse than the death of a child. These children are not statistics and this plea is a public reckoning for the defendant,” said Bruce Brown, DA, in a statement.
Figaszewski is scheduled to be sentenced on May 7, to an expected term of 16 years in prison.
